Media Regulatory Office leads UAE delegation in the15th Gulf Radio and Television Festival in Bahrain

The Media Regulatory Office of the Ministry of Culture and Youth is leading a delegation of radio and television entities in the 15th Gulf Radio and Television Festival hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain from June 21 to 23, 2022, organised by the Gulf Radio and TV Organisation.  The delegation includes officials from Abu Dhabi TV, Dubai TV, Sharjah TV, Ras Al Khaimah Radio and other radio stations in the country, who will participate in more than 30 productions in addition to attending workshops, seminars and a marketplace with dedicated exhibition suites for media production.

This year, the festival is organising 11 competitions for radio series and programmes from the GCC member countries. There will be 10 competitions for series, films and television programmes, and nine competitions for series, films, television programmes in addition to four categories for series and radio programmes for the private sector. Also included will be several competitions in the field of digital media, short films for students and amateurs.

H.E. Dr. Rashid Khalfan Al Nuaimi, Executive Director of the Media Regulatory Office at the Ministry of Culture and Youth, stressed that the Gulf Radio and Television Festival is a significant Gulf platform for celebrating creativity in the field of media. It helps in unifying media goals for the Gulf region, supporting excellence in radio and television, as well as honouring creative youth in this field.

 “The Media Regulatory Office participated in several standing committee meetings leading up to the festival. We also organised a number of meetings with different media entities in the UAE to stress the importance of participation in such events. We are discussing how media houses competing through their productions reflect the advanced level of media in the UAE. This year’s event will also honour media stalwarts who have contributed to the growth of the media scene in the region.”

Abu Dhabi Media, Dubai Media Incorporated and Sharjah Broadcasting Authority are competing in various radio and television competitions, while a number of university students will be participating in digital media and short film competitions.
