The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, established following a directive from the President of the United Arab Emirates, as part of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, works to support Arabic language development and modernisation through comprehensive strategies and frameworks, enrich the scientific, educational, cultural and creative contributions of the Arabic language, promote Arabic language proficiency and cultural understanding, and support Arab talents in the fields of writing, translation, publishing, scientific research, arts, content creation and organisation of book fairs. The Centre works to realise its foundational vision through dedicated programmes, human expertise, and meaningful partnerships with the world’s most prestigious technical, cultural, and academic institutions.
HE Dr. Ali bin Tamim is Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC), founded in January 2021 as part ofthe Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT). He leads the Centre’s Board of Directors and oversees its strategic efforts to develop and modernise the Arabic language in Abu Dhabi and beyond. In addition to his role at ALC, he is currently the Secretary-General of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award.
With his vast experience in Arabic literary content, H.E. Bin Tamim is instrumental in driving ALC’s efforts for promoting Arabic language proficiency and widening its contribution to the scientific, educational, cultural and creative fields. He draws on his wealth of expertise to support Arab talent in the areas of content development, translation, publishing, research, and arts.
H.E. Bin Tamim has held several positions related to the cultural sector in the UAE, he formerly served as the Chairperson of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, and the General Manager of Abu Dhabi Media Company.
H.E. Bin Tamim received his Doctorate Degree in Literary Critique from Yarmouk University in Jordan in 2005, and Master’s Degree in Arabic Language and Literature from The University of Jordan in 2001. He contributed to the development and launch of many significant cultural initiatives in the country.
