The Cultural and Creative Industries Council held its second meeting at Salama Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation, in the presence of H. H. Sheikha Mariam Bint Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the chairwoman of the Foundation, Noura Bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, the Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development and a number of the honorable members of the Council.

H. Sheikha Mariam Bint Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, chairwoman of Salama Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation, stressed the importance of the consolidation of efforts of all active cultural and creative institutions in the cultural landscape in the UAE, in order to develop an integrated system of plans, programs and policies that contribute to the promotion of the cultural and creative industries sector in consistence with the objectives of the year of preparation for the next 50 year

H. Sheikha Mariam Bint Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan stated :

“Investment in the capabilities and talents of young people and the creation of creative generations who are well-equipped with the future shaping tools are the backbone for building a sustainable, creative economy, which can keep pace with today’s challenges. This , in turn , would contribute to reach a leading and high position  and would promote our country’s stature and our people’s welfare”.

Noura Bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, the Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, reviewed the Ministry’s efforts to empower the cultural and creative industries, which have become one of the fastest growing and most active industries globally, due to the capacity of these industries to generate economic proceeds and provide job opportunities for young people. She also noted that the policies and economic incentives are the base of transformation for moving towards a sustainable, competitive economy, which derives  its strength from the renewable and innovative.  human  minds.

Sheikh Salem Al Qassimi, the assistant undersecretary of Heritage and Arts Sector, presented the project of launching the criterion of national numbering for various artistic products, including calligraphy, fine arts, mosaic, photography, music….etc., in order to standardize the method of numbering of artistic products and preservation of the intellectual rights of the artists in consistence with the global numbering and coding systems, and to build and update national database of the artistic products in cooperation with the competent international organizations.

H.E, also talked about the UAE- Korean cultural dialogue 2020 celebrating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationships between the two countries. In addition, he emphasized the significance of the existence of joint cultural events between the UAE and Korea during this year to highlight the similarities between the two cultures.

E. Salma Al Darmaki, the assistant undersecretary of Knowledge and Cultural Policies Sector presented the project of cultural data and statistics, which aims to provide accurate data and information on all parties engaged in the cultural sector, and this will help the decision maker to make proper decisions and to promulgate the policies and legislations needed for the cultural sector in the UAE.

She also provided a detailed explanation on the results of the Cultural Agenda of the previous years 2018 and 2019, the executive plan for the next years and the proposed  performance indicators.

Moreover, the Council discussed a set of the cultural projects to be executed at Dubai Expo 2020, which aim to highlighting the features of the UAE and the Islamic culture and arts to the delegations and visitors of Expo , due to the importance of this international forum, which will be the destination of millions of visitors.

This meeting was attended by Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, chairman of Ajman Department of Touristic Development, Sheikh Majid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, chairman of Umm Al Quwain Department of Tourism and Antiquities, H. E. Hussein Al Hammadi, the Minister of Education, Abdul Aziz Al Housani, the acting undersecretary of the Department of Culture and Tourism, Hala Badri, the director general of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Sheikha Nawar bint Ahmad Al Qasimi,  Director of the Sharjah Art Foundation,  Saleh Mohammed Al Jazairi, the director general of Ajman Department of Tourist  Development, Malek Al Malek, the CEO of Tecom Group, Abdul Mon’em bin Eissa Al Serkal, the founder of Al Sarkal Avenue, H. E. Hammdan Karam Al Ka’abi,  advisor of the chairman  of Fujairah Culture and Media Authority, Dr. Ahmad Khalifa Al Shamsi, the chairman of board of directors of  Fujairah Tourism and Antiquities Authority, H. E. Ahmad Obaid Al Tunaiji, the director general of Ras Al Khaimah Department of Antiquities and Museums, H. E. Mohammed Saleh Shelwah, the Minister’s advisor for the affairs of the Arab League and GGC  states at  the Ministry of Economy, H. E. Jaber Al Lamki, the executive director of the media and strategic communication sector of the National Media Council and H. E. Rashid Abdul Kareem Al Blushi, the deputy director  of Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development.
