Saqr Hospital

Saqr Hospital is considered one of the governmental hospitals that were established during the first era of the establishment of the Union and at the expense of the Ministry of Health. The hospital is considered one of the first modern hospitals during that period, in which many different specialized departments were available.
The hospital is located in the Seih Al Qusaidat area, which is a rocky plain area surrounded by Samar and Ghaf trees and palm plantations. The location of the hospital during the initial period was in an area located in the center of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, so that it provides its various services to all segments of society and from various different regions such as the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain and the Emirate of Fujairah.
The hospital was built from modern building materials such as bricks, cement and reinforced concrete, in addition to the glass façade with aluminum wings, which was a modern architectural addition during that period, which was implemented in 1977 by Engineering Sodeteg.
The hospital is located on a large area and the building is divided into (5) floors and a number of wings, through which the specialties that were available in the hospital during the first periods of the hospital's work are served.
What distinguishes the hospital is that all births in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah from the year 1980 AD to the ninth of September of the year 2018 AD and those who were born in government hospitals in the emirate are born in Saqr Governmental Hospital, where the hospital served the maternity sector for nearly 38 years.
Governmental Hospital Saqr is still practicing its specializations that it has been practicing since the construction period, and it is considered the main hospital that patients from all over the emirate visit. During previous periods, many additions were made to the hospital and the expansion that occurred in the back of the building due to the population growth in the emirate during the past forty years and change in some internal divisions to serve the course of the hospital's therapeutic operations, the structure and architectural design is still preserved as it is.

Saqr Governmental Hospital is considered one of the distinctive buildings in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah with an architectural value, it was established during the first period of the union, when the country and the emirate moved to a new era in which the focus was on providing health care services to all citizens and residents in various emirates of the country, especially in remote areas. During that period, it contributed to raising the health of community members through health care programs according to the specialties available in the hospital.
It is noticeable in the architecture of the building and its history the influence of the modern shift in the building and construction processes that began with the beginning of the union and the establishment of such modern facilities and these spaces that are considered somewhat large during that era, in addition to the use of the system of left and right wings in the building and the glass facade, and panels were also used Aluminum on the building to add architectural aesthetics and protect the occupants of the hospital rooms from direct sunlight as shown in the pictures below, which were taken during different periods of the building. Saqr Governmental Hospital is a place of collective memory, as it was the only governmental hospital in the emirate for 38 years for childbirth operations, which took root in the minds of the people of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, in addition to specialized clinics for receiving treatment and various surgical operating rooms.
