June 29, 2017

His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, stressed that the ministry is striving to deliver its diverse cultural and knowledge services to all UAE nationals and residents, especially during the summer holidays where the activities of the program “Cultural Summer” in its first session will be launched in all cultural centers of the Ministry after Eid al-Fitr holiday. The Summer program will continue until a few weeks before the start of the new school year with 2 daily sessions, the morning one starts from 9 am to 1 pm and the evening session starts from 5 to 7:30 pm. In the first work plan of the program, the Ministry adopted a new and innovative method based on nurturing and developing talents under the supervision of a group of trainers to provide students enrolled in the program with knowledge and skill in the following creative fields: theater, fine arts, music, creative writing whether story, poetry or novel, in addition to various entertainment activities in an attempt to break the routine and staying away from traditional programs to attract school and university students and interested members of the community. The notion of the program is based on the investment of the energies of students in the summer holidays, in addition to the finding, refining and developing talents by partnering with selected artists and professors to provide them with specialized basics in the four cultural fields, in preparation for their inclusion in the programs of the ministry aimed at pumping new blood in the UAE cultural scene in general. Registration in this program will begin shortly within the next few days, either through visiting the cultural centers or through the website of the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development. This came during His Excellency’s follow-up to the preparations of the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development and its cultural centers of the “Cultural Summer” program, where His Excellency directed that the activities offered should be more specialized and rich in the creative, literary, artistic, musical and theatrical fields. His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan noted that the launch of the “Cultural Summer” program this year for the first time across the UAE is an investment of the efforts exerted by our wise leadership represented by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and their brothers Rulers of the UAE, in the fields of culture and knowledge. The country, under their wise guidance, has witnessed over the past years huge cultural growth and development and integrated national and institutional efforts represented by the year of innovation, which established methodologies to build a broad-based society, then complementing the whole pictures by announcing the year of reading, which fortified generations intellectually and ideologically. This was finally followed by programs to enrich the knowledge in the country such as “The Reading Challenge Program” and the month of national reading, which has encouraged thousands of people to read. Finally stressing that the summer program comes in support of the knowledge march in the country to achieve the UAE 2021 vision. His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak said that the ministry has long-term plans to care for talents, by providing a large number of experts and specialists in various creative fields in all cultural centers to supervise the training courses and workshops according to scientific methods which allow participants to interact directly with the lecturers and supervisors. This would lead to the best possible results, stressing that the ministry will ensure the availability of all factors for the success of this program and for the achievement of its objectives including creating a new generation, believing in their capabilities and benefiting from their talents and creations. Sheikh Nahyan assured that the program was built on the basis of multiple intelligences and the ability to match the needs of society and the interests of individuals together for the development of society. These are the unutilized intelligences that students possess such as linguistic intelligence, musical intelligence, visual intelligence, and physical intelligence. This is where our choice of the four cultural areas: theater, music, creative writing and fine arts comes from, which were mixed with recreational activities, competitions and cultural and heritage trips. Sheikh Nahyan finally called on all parents to interact with the program and involve their children in the events and activities throughout the summer holidays, stressing that the existence of programs will turn the cultural centers in Abu Dhabi, the Western Region, Ajman, Umm Al-Quwwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Masafi, Dibba Fujairah and Dalma to hubs of creativity and an open space for culture and knowledge production.
