The Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development will participate in the 27nth session of the Abu Dhabi Book Fair starting tomorrow. The Ministry’s pavilion in the book fair will include more than 200 book titles from its releases including young creations, translations, library studies, cultural and heritage books, literary and criticism works and a number of creative works by young writers, in addition to a number of various events catering to all segments of the society. Afra Al Sabri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, commented that the Ministry’s pavilion this year will witness 5 of the Ministry’s initiatives related to reading and the year of giving, including “We Love Reading”, “Cultural Volunteering Team”, “The Box of Giving”, “Cards of Happiness” and “The Creativity Laboratory”. The pavilion will also offer complete information about the “Preparing Young Authors” program. Al Sabri added that the Ministry’s pavilion this year will also include a number of various events meeting the needs of writers and creatives. She further assured that the directives of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, is aimed at the positive and effective role the Ministry plays among publishing houses and other institutions during large cultural events such as the Abu Dhabi Book Fair. Al Sabri confirmed that the Abu Dhabi Book Fair is now one of the most important cultural events organized yearly by the United Arab Emirates, on both the Arab and international levels. Not only does it contribute effectively to building cultural coherence within the UAE society, but it also helps build cultural bridges between people from different origins. Al Sabri finally added “We in the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development have a clear strategy in supporting and promoting the role of culture and knowledge in the UAE society, in addition to creating cultural interactions and experiences.”
