Her Excellency Noura Bint Mohamed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, explored the future of culture and arts in the UAE during the Majlis Series event organized by NYU Abu Dhabi and the New York Embassy in the United Arab Emirates.

The Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development also conducted a number of best practices visits in various art and culture venues in New York. During her visit to the New York Public library, Anthony W. Marx, President of The New York Public Library, gave a detailed explanation about the library’s boundless historical and cultural components, in addition to the library’s role in research and future directions. Both Al Kaabi and Marx toured the library and discussed the possibility of future cooperation.

On a related note, Al Kaabi discussed the possibility of upcoming collaborations in supporting modern art and creative projects with Ellen Loren, President of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. During her visit, Al Kaabi toured the museums modern exhibits, including architecture and a multi-source archive of historical materials relevant to modern art.

Noura Al Kaabi met with Daniel Wess, President of Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Caroline Baumann, Director of Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, to discuss potential projects for joint cooperation between them and the UAE museums.

During her best practices visit to New York, Noura Al Kaabi also met with Thelma Golden, Director of Studio Museum in Harlem, Dr. Joseph Policy, President of Julian University, Alex Boots, Director of THE SHED Arts Centre, Carol Kim, Vice-President of Parsons University for Art and Design and Sebastian Welsh, Director and co-founder of the ARTSY.
