July 16, 2017
The Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development organized an educational trip for more than 250 students participating in the national program “Cultural Summer” from the Abu Dhabi and Ajman Cultural Centers to the Etihad Museum. The students received a detailed description about the different sections of the museum and were amazed and proud to visit the museum which is home to the most advanced global techniques to highlight the country’s history, development, leaders and wealth, in addition to a cinema hall which displays rare documentaries about the establishment of the United Arab Emirates. On the other hand, the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development focused on promoting the culture of volunteerism among all participants in the program in all cultural centers across the country. The Ministry made sure at least five volunteers from university students were present to assist supervisors in specialized courses in organizing and training. Cultural centers also prepared plans to raise the values of volunteering through various activities during the program such as lectures and seminars, in addition to participation in the UAE Volunteer Platform “volunteers.ae” . This comes as an implementation of the directives of the wise government to promote the value of volunteerism after a number of UAE leaders including His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan joined the platform and directed for the activation of the role of cultural centers in raising the values of volunteering in their local surrounding environment. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development announced the availability of transportation free of charge for all students participating in the program to facilitate their participation after the increased demands from parents who communicated with the Ministry in cultural centers or through the ministry’s social media platforms. “The program organizes 9 awareness lectures about the culture of volunteering and encourages participants to join the main platform of UAE Volunteer Platform “volunteers.ae”. Volunteering activities are conducted inside and outside cultural centers by organizing cleaning campaigns, awareness lectures, workshops and free-style reading sessions. Volunteers of each cultural center also assist and support supervisors and help younger students”, commented Ahmed Al-Suraie, Director of the Cultural Centers and Supervisor of the Events Committee in the program. Al Suraie added that the program offers a large number of educational and recreational trips to heritage, archeological and tourist areas in the country. The program already organized seven trips during the first week, most notably the visit of Ajman and Abu Dhabi cultural centers to Etihad Museum in Dubai. More than 250 students were impressed by the museum’s collectibles and the modern presentation methods it adopts to display a huge amount of historical, geographical, political and heritage information.
