The Ministry Of Culture Receives Delegates Participating In The Ramadan Forum For Quran Calligraphy From 16 Arab And Foreign Countries

The Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development has completed its preparations for the launch of the ninth session of the Ramadan Forum for Quran calligraphy, which will be held at the Festival City in Dubai starting from tomorrow for three days under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development and with the participation of 30 of the world’s best calligraphers from sixteen Arab and foreign countries who will gather to write a complete copy of the book of God, where each one of them will write a part of the Holy Quran to complete their work using Al Thuluth script “خط الثلث”for the first time. On the other hand, all the delegations participating in the forum and the jury members will arrive this morning and will be received by the higher committee supervising the forum in preparation for a preparatory meeting in the presence of all jury members including Mr. Mohamed Ozjay from Turkey, Mr. Abdul Reda Bahia Dawood Al Fargawi from Iraq, Dr. Obeida Mohammed Saleh Al Banki from Syria and Mohammed Al-Tamimi from Turkey. In the meeting they will review all the procedures related the launch of the opening ceremony of the forum on Sunday in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak and a number of executive and cultural leaders of the UAE. The Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development has placed a number of rules for the completion of this work including: the font to be used is Al Thuluth script “خط الثلث, the scale of the pens, type of paper, as well as the unification of the quality inks taking into account its resistance to erosion and lasting for longer periods of time, where the Ministry will keep the full version of the book of Allah signed by all the participants in the forum, with the date of its completion, to become one of the ministry’s belongings. Her Excellency Afra Al Sabri, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, assured that the invitation is open to the public to attend all the activities of the forum over the course of three days for all those interested in Arabic calligraphy and those passionate for learning means of writing verses of the Holy Quran by calligraphers during their work on the completion of a full copy of the Koran. Al Sabri added that the forum has proved remarkable success over the past 9 years due to its uniqueness in the Arab and Islamic world becoming one of the most important cultural international gatherings specialized in the field of Arabic calligraphy and Islamic arts, stressing that the main objective of the forum is to support arts and Arabic language literature represented in the art of calligraphy not only at the local level and but also globally, stressing that the participating 30 most famous world calligraphers were chosen from among hundreds of applicants to participate in the forum based on their efficiency, creativity and capabilities. The invitation is open to the public to join the calligraphers over the course of three days while they are scripting a copy of the Holy Quran at the Intercontinental Hotel in Festival City Dubai, stressed Afra Al Sabri . Al Sabri pointed out that the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development has completed its preparations of a huge exhibition which includes the Ministry’s belongings of precious international works in the fields of Islamic calligraphy and ornamentation by international artists to be open to the public on the sidelines of the Ramadan Forum for Quran Calligraphy.
