Outstanding Reader Challenge (A Book and a Letter)

As part of Reading Month, the initiative ‘A Book and a Letter’ was introduced by teacher Mirna Ibrahim to her sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade female students. Each student was given a book to gift to another student, accompanied by a letter expressing the impact that the book had on her life. This activity aimed to foster a love for reading, spread knowledge, and build bridges of ideas and emotions between students through words and books.

Since a book is not just pages but a message that extends from heart to heart, with each book we gift, we also gift a new window to discover the world. The ‘A Book and a Letter’ initiative added a warm human touch to Reading Month activities, where students experienced a unique combination of literary gifting and emotional communication.

The gifted books varied from exciting stories to cultural magazines and knowledge books. Each student carefully chose her words to write a letter of love and impact, sharing how the book changed her perspective or added special meaning to her life. The students engaged with this initiative with enthusiasm and curiosity, eagerly awaiting the gifted book and the accompanying letter, making the event a moment filled with emotions and appreciation for the value of the written and read word. This experience helped enhance the spirit of communication and respect among students and develop personal expression and writing skills.

The event concluded with the honoring of participating students in appreciation of their efforts and creativity, attended by the school principal, Mrs. Samira Al Awadhi, who praised the role of such initiatives in fostering intellectual giving and promoting a culture of reading among students.
