The History of Coffee Worldwide and Its Role in Emirati Heritage

This workshop will focus on the global history of coffee and its significance in Emirati heritage through a reading of the book “Coffee: A Global History,” published by Kalima, as well as a discussion of the cultural and social aspects of coffee in the UAE. The session will be hosted by researcher Abdullah Khalfan Al-Hamour Al-Yamahi, an expert in Emirati heritage, and Dr. Mohammed Al-Khaldi, a specialist in thought and culture. They will discuss the history of coffee and its transformation into a global phenomenon, along with its importance in Emirati customs and traditions. The workshop will also include a discussion about the symbolism of coffee in literature and culture, along with a poetry reading about coffee, followed by an interactive segment with the audience.
