Digital Knowledge Journey: Read, Discover, and Share

As part of Reading Month, Mr. Hassan Al-Saad presented an innovative activity to twelfth-grade students under the slogan ‘Digital Knowledge Journey: Read, Discover, and Share.’ This activity aimed to integrate reading with the spirit of the times and technological development, encouraging students to read creatively and enhancing their skills in using technology to benefit from the world of books and knowledge.
In this activity, each student was asked to choose a book that matched their personal interests (whether it was a technical, scientific, cultural, or literary book) but with a modern twist. After reading it, each student summarized the book using modern technological means:
– Preparing a short video explaining the book’s idea and the main lessons learned from it.
– Creating a PowerPoint presentation that included the main points of the book, with images or audio clips to enhance the experience.
After the students completed their preparations, an in-person discussion session was organized, where they participated in discussing the books and exchanging opinions on the ideas and concepts that caught their interest.
The ‘Digital Knowledge Journey: Read, Discover, and Share’ activity created a unique experience that combined the authenticity of the paper book with the modernity of digital tools. Through this activity, students were able to express their understanding of the books in creatively technological ways. The methods varied between videos that presented the personal reading experience and educational videos that focused on summarizing the main ideas in an attractive and smooth manner, using audio and visual effects to effectively convey the messages.
Some students excelled in presenting interactive PowerPoint presentations, which enhanced the auditory and visual learning experience for their peers and opened new horizons for employing technology to enhance reading and comprehension skills.
During the discussion session, a rich dialogue took place among the students about the ideas derived from the books and how they could be applied in their daily lives or linked to their future university specializations. The spirit of cooperation and intellectual respect was evident in these discussions, which provided a space for knowledge exchange and free expression.
