Dictionary Activity

Conducting a dictionary activity in school is an excellent way to enhance students’ vocabulary and language skills. It encourages them to explore the meanings, pronunciations, and usages of new words, which helps improve their literacy. Through fun and interactive exercises, such as word searches, definitions, and using words in sentences, students gain confidence in using dictionaries as valuable learning tools . This activity fosters curiosity, builds language proficiency, and encourages lifelong learning.

MyOn Reading Platform

The Philippine School Abu Dhabi, in partnership with MyOn, introduced a self-paced online reading platform at the very start of the school year, continuing until its conclusion. This platform was designed to enhance students’ literacy skills while allowing them to read independently and at their own pace. MyOn offers a wide selection of digital books across various genres and reading levels, ensuring that students can explore materials that match their interests and reading proficiency without any pressure.

Additionally, MyOn provides parents with access to the platform, enabling them to read alongside their children and engage in the reading process. This feature promotes family involvement, encouraging parents to support and foster their child’s literacy development at home.

Throughout the school year, students used MyOn to track their progress, set goals, and improve comprehension through built-in quizzes and comprehension checks. Feedback from students, teachers, and parents has been overwhelmingly positive, with many highlighting enhancements in reading engagement, habits, and comprehension.
