The college distributed 120 copies of a book by The Emirati poet and writer Ali Al Shaali to read during Ramadan before the meeting with the author on campus in April.
DEAR Time (Drop Everything and Read) is a school-wide initiative at Creative British School launched by Mr. Timothy, an English teacher , in coordination with the library to foster a love for reading and improve literacy skills. Every day , students in both Primary and Secondary dedicate 20 minutes to quiet reading. Teachers participate by reading alongside students and guiding discussions on the importance of books. This program encourages independent reading habits, promotes book access, and strengthens a culture of lifelong learning-because at CBS, we believe that “Readers are Leaders!”

We Speak Arabic is a short series program created to educate non-Arabic speakers on how to converse using Arabic terms. The series targets all ages and nationalities through engaging storytelling with Harry the expat in Abu Dhabi. The program aims to encourage proficiency in the Arabic language as a medium of knowledge, culture, and creativity, in line with the mission of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre and Reading Month.
A session featuring Dr. Younis Hassan Al-Hosani will discuss the book *The Bilingual Child: From Early Childhood to School*, one of the publications from the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language. This session will illuminate early bilingualism in children while exploring the benefits of multilingualism on their cognitive and intellectual development. The book offers precise insights into how a child acquires two languages, the interaction between language and the brain, and the influence of the environment and critical periods in language acquisition. It also delves into the cognitive and perceptual processes of bilingual children, explaining how they acquire multiple linguistic systems and switch between them effortlessly.
The role of reading and its impact on teaching Arabic to non-native speakers
A workshop aimed at educating parents on how to emphasize the reading habit for their kids. In addition, the workshop will cover strategies and tips to help stimulate children’s interest in reading , highlighting the importance of making reading a part of their daily routine.
